Smiling Dog Entertainment recently teamed up with the marketing team from the
Iowa Farm Bureau Federation to create a one-of-a-kind photo booth experience at the
Iowa State Fair. Together, we designed a custom trading card photo booth activation that put fairgoers right in the spotlight.
A Unique Take on a Classic Collectible
With the help of Iowa Farm Bureau’s team, we created a baseball-style trading card design that felt authentic and nostalgic, while celebrating the vital role of Iowa’s farmers. On the front, guests’ photos took center stage. On the back, we featured a special “Farm Facts All Star Edition” that highlighted the many ways Iowa farmers stand out among their peers—whether in sustainability, innovation, or sheer dedication.
Picture-Perfect Setting
For the photo backdrop, we wanted something instantly recognizable and tied to Iowa’s rich agricultural and cultural heritage. The winning choice? A corn field from the iconic
Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville, Iowa, captured in a photo by our own Shane Kiesner. This background added both local pride and cinematic charm to every card.
Props, Play, and Personalization
To complete the experience, guests had the option of posing with baseball-themed props including jerseys, bats, balls, and gloves. Some attendees embraced the full team spirit, while others kept it casual—either way, every card came out looking like a keepsake worth holding onto.
Building Lasting Partnerships
The activation was a huge success, drawing long lines and plenty of smiles throughout Iowa Farm Bureau Day at the fair. The collaboration was so well received that we’re already planning a second custom trading card experience with Iowa Farm Bureau—this time ahead of an upcoming
University of Iowa football game this fall. We can’t wait to see how fans will get in on the action!
